Your Life is an Epic Journey
If you are human, if you are alive, you have dealt with challenges that are a part of your epic journey to freedom. Buried within you, your epic, amazing and magnificent life story is just waiting to be seen, heard and celebrated. And you, like everyone else, have a Divine Purpose that emerges out of that deeply personal and beautifully unique life journey. The place of our greatest pain is the place where we have hid our greatest power.
And yet the world has woven a spell of lies around us: the lie of our victimization, the lie of our insignificance, the lie of our loneliness, the lie of our lovelessness, the lie of our impoverishment, the lie of our separation from the Divine Creative Force. Every one of us has had our wings bound, trapped in this sticky web, our minds numbed into believing we never had wings in the first place. But rarely, if ever, are we able to liberate ourselves from its dis-empowering clutches by ourselves. And this is part of the exquisite Beauty of this human soul journey. We are each other’s pathway to freedom.
In Pampamesayok Shaman School, we work together to free each other from these lies. We arrive the first day feeling self-conscious, wondering if we’ll feel alone in the crowd and surrounded by freaks, or afraid if we bare our naked souls, we’ll be seen as a freak. We arrive carrying the story that our personal life journey isn’t important or valuable. By shining the loving light of deeply seeing the beauty in each other's soul, we build trust, grow community and learn to love ourselves and each other. This beloved community is called the “ayllu.” This is the healing power of love. And in this power of love, we help each other recognize and honor that our own journey truly IS epic.
Every shaman is called to this path by their own personal journey of transformation. It's not an easy path: the journey always involves tremendous suffering. And yet somehow our soul brought each one of us to our own unique path so we could overcome the pain and find the tremendous power we hid beneath it. The bane of our existence becomes the blessing of our transcendence. We rise from playing the victim, to claiming the victory. In so doing, the tragic mess that brought ruin to our lives becomes the magic message that brings meaning to our lives.
As shamans, we are agents of healing and transformation, dreaming a more magnificent world into being. The re-dreaming of our world begins with our personal journey. How, you might ask, can MY own personal life’s journey of healing bring healing to the world? This question reveals the lie of your insignificance that hides the truth of your magnificence. Let me explain.
Both shamans and physicists know that all is energy, and all is interconnected as one great field of energy. Looking at Reality, as the world teaches us, in terms of matter creates the illusion of separateness. THIS is the foundation of all the other lies that have bound us in the old story of victimization. For the opposite of separation (disconnection) is LOVE (connection). We are parts of one great tapestry where our lives are woven together with the threads of all beings and the elements of the universe. And the power of LOVE that connects us is the power that heals us.
You’ve heard the famous phrase, “The truth shall set you free.” This path to transformation and healing in our own lives begins with shining the light of awareness on the lies, hidden in the dark of our subconscious, that have caused our suffering. As light always manages to do, it automatically dispels darkness. And so it is that the lies vanish when we can face them and see them clearly. We see our situation from a new perspective, and automatically the story of victimization we made up about our life transforms to a story of victory. As we change the story - the story about who we are, the story about what our life means, the story about what is the nature of reality - our energy changes. As we change our energy from limitation to liberation, our world responds and we attract new experiences that liberate us.
We may be called “healers,” but we know it is a Greater Power that mysteriously works through us to allow others to heal themselves. Although we have practices that guide the process, in reality, they are not necessary. It is through our BEING, embodying our authenticity in our very PRESENCE, that allows this Greater Power to flow through us. And this healing presence emerges out of our own personal healing experience.
